Abstract

ISO 7494 is one of a series of International Standards based on IEC 601-1; in IEC 601-1 (the "General Standard"), this type of International Standard is referred to as a "Particular Standard". As stated in 1.3 of IEC 601-1:1998, the requirements of this International Standard take precedence over those of IEC 601-1. This International Standard specifies requirements and test methods for dental units, regardless of their construction and regardless of whether or not they are electrically powered. It also specifies requirements for manufacturer`s instructions, marking and packaging. NOTE 1 For dental patient chairs see ISO 6875, and for dental operating lights see ISO 9680.
