Omfang

This standard specifies the approach to be followed for the development of the procedure for the ultrasonic testing of the following welds: _ welds in austenitic stainless steels; _ welds in nickel based alloys; _ welds in duplex steels; _ dissimilar metal welds. The purposes of the testing may be very different (e.g.): _ assessment of quality level (manufacturing); _ detection of specific indications induced in service. Acceptance levels are not included in this standard. They may be applied according to the scope of the testing, see clause 4. The requirements of this standard are applicable to both manual and mechanised testing.
